Back in the very early 60s, Dennis Freimuth helped form the GassHoppers Car club. The club started the first Rod & & Personalized Show in IL, holding it at V.F.W. in Morton Grove, IL. With the assistance of Bob Larivee, a promoter from Detroit, MI, began the First International Pole & & Personalized Show at Navy Pier. It later on moved to McCormick Area in Chicago and then transformed into exactly what is now the World of Wheels Vehicle Show. The club used themoney they made kind the shows to develop their race vehicle. Back in 1964-65, they set the NHRA National Document for C/Gas at Union Grove, WI and Detroit Dragway. After 30 years, Dennis took the auto out of storage and had Frank Court completely rebuild it. The car now transforms 8 second ETs at 150+ m.p.h. in the 1/4 mile. The most famous club member was Don Schumacher, that was an NHRA Funny Car Champion from 1970-73.
